The name
Surfer’s Point and the Ventura Pier are two of the city’s most recognizable geographic landmarks. “Point” also means: get to it. That’s the brief.
Ownership and funding
Pier and Point is owned by Finn Bennett and operated under Overlook Strategy LLC, a California limited liability company. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or controlled by any other newsroom, political party, candidate, or PAC. Our funding comes from a mix of reader memberships, named local sponsorships, and journalism-focused grants. We disclose every financial relationship that could affect coverage.
How we use AI
Every AI-assisted story carries a permanent, visible disclosure banner naming the tool, the reviewer, and the sources. We do not publish AI-only-sourced reporting. We do not fabricate quotes. We follow LION Publishers and Society of Professional Journalists standards for accuracy, attribution, conflicts of interest, and corrections.
