DA charges burglary-crew member in Thousand Oaks home break-in
Hugo Armando Causil Ramos was arraigned on three felony counts tied to an August residential burglary in Thousand Oaks, including grand theft of a firearm.

District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced that Hugo Armando Causil Ramos, 37, of Van Nuys, was charged earlier this week with three felony counts in connection with a residential burglary in Thousand Oaks.
The charges. Causil Ramos is charged with residential burglary, conspiracy to commit residential burglary, and grand theft of a firearm, according to the district attorney's Oct. 23 news release. He also faces special allegations including theft in concert with others and that the crime included planning and sophistication.
The break-in. On Aug. 24, 2026, Ventura County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a residential burglary call on San Antonio Street in Thousand Oaks. Causil Ramos was allegedly captured on Ring surveillance video knocking on the front door of the victims' home approximately 15 minutes before multiple unidentified subjects were captured on video leaving the residence, the release said. During the burglary, the suspects stole jewelry, cash, and a Ruger pistol.
The arrest. It is alleged that Causil Ramos was part of a sophisticated transnational organized crime crew. After a comprehensive investigation, Ventura County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested Causil Ramos on Oct. 16, 2026.
Bail. On Oct. 20, 2026, Causil Ramos pled not guilty to the charges. Bail was initially set at $200,000, however he was subsequently released by the court on pre-trial monitoring, over the objection of the District Attorney.
Next court date. An early disposition conference is scheduled for Oct. 29, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 12 of the Ventura County Superior Court.
Prosecution. The case is being prosecuted by members of the Ventura County District Attorney's Office Serious-Violent Felonies Unit.
