Deputies determined the victim had been severely battered and lost consciousness during the incident. When the victim regained consciousness, they discovered the suspect had taken their personal belongings.
The investigation. Through their investigation, deputies identified the suspect as Sabrina Carlson, a local transient known to frequent the Ventura area, including the river bottom. Headquarters detectives immediately began following up on leads regarding Carlson's whereabouts.
