Ventura adds $41K Rincon monitoring contract for Nye Well 8 bank repair
The first amendment funds permitting and construction monitoring on the Ventura River emergency bank repair through June 2027.

The Ventura City Council on March 24 amended a Professional Services Agreement with Rincon Consulting, Inc. to extend permitting and construction monitoring for the Ventura River bank emergency at Nye Well 8.
That amendment to Agreement SC-0001130 adds $41,792 to the contract, raising the not-to-exceed amount from $52,500 to $94,292. Council also authorized the City Manager to commit up to an additional $9,429 in contingency funding, for a total ceiling of $103,721. The contract term extends through June 30, 2027.
According to the March 24 agenda packet, the amendment was approved under Section 4.600.200 of the Municipal Code, the city's emergency-procurement provision. Ventura Water General Manager Gina Dorrington brought the recommendation, which was approved on consent.
Rincon's work supports a separate emergency contract authorized at the council's March 10 meeting, when the council retroactively approved a $360,000 construction agreement with Peter Lapidus Construction, Inc. for the actual bank repair at Nye Well #8.
For the underlying river-bank issue, the agenda packet did not detail the cause of the damage or the scope of permits the Rincon contract is intended to obtain.
No further council action on the monitoring contract is currently scheduled.
