Ventura Police K9 Unit hosts Tacos with a Cop fundraiser October 14
The Ventura Police Department invites residents to meet K9 handlers at Mother's Tacos on E. Thompson Boulevard, where 20% of the day's sales will support the donation-funded K9 Unit.

The Ventura Police Department invites the community to join officers and K9 Unit handlers for Tacos with a Cop on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Mother's Tacos, 1177 E. Thompson Blvd., Suite 101.
The fundraiser. During the event, 20% of restaurant sales for the day will be donated to the Ventura Police K9 Unit, which is funded entirely through community donations, according to the department's Sept. 30 news release.
The unit. The K9 Unit consists of four highly trained dogs that are available 24/7 to support patrol operations, assist with apprehensions, and conduct narcotics and explosives detection. K9 teams complete ongoing specialized training to maintain the skills needed to respond effectively in a variety of situations.
Commander Ferrill. 'Events like this give us a chance to connect with our community in a relaxed setting and build relationships outside of our typical day-to-day interactions,' said Commander Tim Ferrill, who oversees the K9 Unit. 'We're incredibly grateful for the community support our K9 Unit receives. Donations directly support our canines, including their training, veterinary care, protective gear, and other needs that keep them healthy, safe, and ready to serve.'
Meet and greet. Members of the K9 Unit and their canine partners will be on-site during the event for a meet and greet. Community members are encouraged to stop by, enjoy a meal, chat with officers, and learn more about the department's K9 program.
