Council OKs four DC fast chargers at Fritz Huntsinger sports complex
EVGateway will own, operate, and maintain the new electric vehicle charging stations under a 10-year agreement that may extend to 20 years.

The Ventura City Council on April 14 approved a 10-year agreement with EVGateway to install four Direct Current Fast Charging electric vehicle stations at Fritz Huntsinger Youth Sports Complex.
EVGateway will own, operate, and maintain the stations under the agreement. Council also authorized extension options that could keep the agreement in place for up to 20 years total.
According to the April 14 agenda packet, Public Works Director Charles W. Ebeling brought the recommendation. The contract was approved on consent.
That packet did not specify the dollar value of the agreement, the rates EVGateway will charge users, or any revenue-sharing terms with the city.
Council also found the project categorically exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act, citing CEQA Guidelines Sections 15301(b), 15303, 15304, 15308, and the 'common sense' exemption at Section 15061(b)(3).
For Ventura drivers, four DC Fast Charging stations at the youth sports complex add public charging capacity at one of the city's recreation sites.
No further council action on the EVGateway agreement is currently scheduled.
