Fillmore gang member arrested for February stabbing on Santa Clara Street

A Fillmore gang member was arrested July 22 for a stabbing that happened five months earlier on Santa Clara Street, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

Victor Palazuelos, 21, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon under Penal Code 245(a)(1). He remains in custody at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility pending court proceedings, per the sheriff's July 22 release.

Deputies from the Fillmore Station responded to the 500 block of Santa Clara Street on Feb. 6 at about 10:37 p.m. after a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. They found an adult male suffering from a stab wound. The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

The Fillmore Detective Unit took over the investigation. Over the following months, detectives worked leads and identified Palazuelos as the suspect. He was already on probation for a gang-related crime at the time of the arrest.

On the morning of July 22, deputies contacted Palazuelos during a probation search and took him into custody. The sheriff's office thanked members of the public for their ongoing support and for providing information that assists the agency in solving crimes.

No further court dates have been announced.
