Santa Paula Council Lets City Manager Singer's Contract Run Through 2027
Santa Paula's city manager will serve out his final year under existing contract terms as the council prepares to launch a recruitment process for his replacement.

The Santa Paula City Council will not renew City Manager Dan Singer's contract beyond its June 30, 2027 sunset date, according to the city's July 1 press release. Singer agreed to serve out the remaining year of his term rather than depart early.
Mayor Carlos Juarez said the decision was difficult. "This was not an easy decision by the Council as we recognize the unselfish dedication Dan has given to this organization and community," Juarez stated, per the July 1 release. "The Council has trust in Dan's leadership and we look forward to working collaboratively with him and the City's Executive Team as we transition to a new City Manager next summer."
Singer has served Santa Paula for more than seven years, the release notes. His tenure includes leading the city through the pandemic, establishing new revenue streams for city services, and acquiring the historic Union Oil building. Singer said he plans to remain a Santa Paula resident after his term ends. "I wanted this to be my fourth and final City Manager job," he said, according to the release. "My wife and I love living in Santa Paula and plan to continue to be residents here for the rest of our lives."
The council chose to provide a full year for the transition rather than triggering an immediate departure.
Council members plan to meet this summer to formalize a transition plan and begin recruiting Singer's successor. No specific meeting date has been scheduled.
