Ventura adopts glue trap ban as ordinance clears second reading
The March 24 vote made Chapter 8.60 part of the municipal code two weeks after the ordinance was first introduced.

Glue traps are now banned in Ventura. The City Council on March 24 adopted Ordinance Chapter 8.60, which prohibits the sale and use of glue traps within city limits, after the ordinance cleared its required second reading.
According to the March 24 agenda packet, council waived the second reading in full and adopted the ordinance, which adds Chapter 8.60 to Title 8 of the San Buenaventura Municipal Code. The recommendation came from City Clerk Michael MacDonald.
The first reading was approved at the council's March 10 meeting. At that earlier meeting, the ordinance had been determined exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act on procedural grounds.
For March 24, the agenda packet did not specify when the ban takes effect, the penalties for violation, or how enforcement will be conducted across retailers operating in the city.
At the introduction stage on March 10, the agenda packet noted that 'other forms of rodent control remain available,' a finding cited in the CEQA exemption.
No further council action on the ordinance is currently scheduled.
