Ventura PD investigating fatal single-vehicle crash on Harbor Boulevard
A driver died early Sept. 6 when his car veered into the center median on Harbor Boulevard south of Olivas Park Drive, struck palm trees, and caught fire.

Ventura Police Department patrol and traffic officers are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that killed an Oxnard man early Saturday morning on Harbor Boulevard.
The crash. At approximately 3:50 a.m. Sept. 6, the Ventura Police Department Communications Center received multiple calls reporting a single-vehicle collision in the area of Harbor Boulevard south of Olivas Park Drive, according to the department's Sept. 8 news release.
Officers arrived quickly and located the vehicle, which was fully engulfed in flames. The sole occupant, an adult male from Oxnard, was found on scene and pronounced deceased.
What happened. Based on the preliminary investigation, the vehicle was traveling north on Harbor Boulevard south of Olivas Park Drive when it veered into the center median. The vehicle then struck a cluster of palm trees, resulting in a violent collision.
Speed a factor. Speed does appear to be a factor, but it is unknown if alcohol or drugs are involved, the department said.
What comes next. The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office will provide information on the deceased once next-of-kin notifications are made. The investigation is ongoing.
